How to get the best out of your guitar – Part 2: Set up maintenance on preowned guitars
Do preowned guitars need setting up?
What if I change a set of strings then what?
Essentially the answer is Yes!
Even seemingly minor changes to you guitar such as changing the tuning and changing the gauge on the strings can impact on the playability and integrity of the guitar.
Heavier gauge strings can pull the neck into a greater curve causing strings to be higher off the frets and lighter gauge strings can cause the neck to curve backwards resulting in strings buzzing against the next fret after the one being played.
Different playing styles of the guitar also may require different set ups on the guitar.
If you have purchased a pre-loved guitar or you have made changes to your own guitar and you are not sure if a set up required, we can assess your guitar and let you know if anything needs to be done to improve playability or to ensure the integrity of the structure of the guitar, at no cost!
All our pre-loved and vintage guitars have been assessed and set up prior to being hung in store for sale.
