Is the bass guitar easy to learn

I want to start this article by saying that yes, the bass guitar is easy to learn. It’s easier to learn than most other instruments out there! That being said, you can’t expect results overnight. Just like learning any other instrument, it takes practice and dedication. But I’m sure you already knew all of that until now…

After playing for over a year and a half on my own accord (not including the time spent during my lessons), I’ve come up with some tips and tricks as well as things not to do so here they are:

1) Take lessons if possible

No matter how long or short your lessons may be, you will more than likely pick up on good habits and develop an understanding of the technical side of things. And remember, your instructor is a more experienced player with a different perspective on things so it’s possible you’re missing some important info they have to offer!

2) Don’t give up!

You may feel like giving up after a few days or weeks of trying and getting nowhere but don’t! After all, playing bass is supposed to be fun so having fun is key when it comes down to pushing through those difficult times.

3)  Bass takes patience, too

If you’ve been playing the guitar for at least six months or so and still think the bass seems easy- peasy then yes, it probably is. But remember that most musical instruments will take time to master so patience is key!

4) If you have the opportunity, try out a few instruments before making your final decision

Playing more than one instrument will help you develop an understanding of the similarities and differences these instruments have. Just because it takes hours to learn doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play another instrument if it sounds appealing to you!

5) Above all, have fun

As I stated previously, playing bass should be fun! It can be frustrating at times but don’t let that discourage you from enjoying something that’s supposed to bring joy into your life!

So now… go make some music!! 🙂

Don’t forget, this article is aimed toward beginners, not advanced bass players so some of the information might not be as applicable. But advanced bass players, feel free to share any tips or tricks you may know in the comment section below! 🙂

Bass is easy to learn but difficult to perfect–just like any other instrument. With a bit of patience and lots of practice, you’ll be on your way to becoming a bass master in no time! 🙂 Thanks for reading!
